Virginia Gold Tin Watercolour set

As you know, I really enjoy making a vintage watercolor set out of any antique or vintage tin. This virginia Gold tin is one that I recently ran across. It has been now and turned it into a neat watercolor set. I added the Windsor-Newton / Cotman watercolors, some brushes, pencil and handmade dip pens. Also added a water siphon for adding water to the colors. This one has been sold. This painting is done in ink, watecolor and pencil. As usual, I painted it on the inside cover of an old book. I really enjoy using  old book cover for the art. It gives it a touch and patina that really adds an appearance of age of the finished work.

Vinegar Pie Recipe: A Favorite!!

A little unusual for an art blog...but, you've got to eat. This has been one of my favorite recipes for years. It has been called a "poor man's lemon pie". Tastes great. I found this in a newspaper in 1994. It originally appeared in the Huntington, Indiana, Newspaper in 1854.. Try it. The baking directions are not included, so just bake it as you would a regular custard pie. Check it often so that it doesn't burn. Let me know what you think of it.

As I've mentioned before, I am always on the lookout for a vintage watercolor set or an old watercolor tin. I recently ran across this old Lady Churchill tin in an antique store. While not a watercolor tin, I like the way it looked with it's old faded colors and nice patina. I decided to buy it and turn it into a neat watercolor set. I added the Windsor-Newton / Cotman watercolors, some brushes, three handmade dip pens. A pencil sharpenew and pencil and a water siphon for adding water to the colors.
